Rana Driving School — Pupil Registration Terms of Service
Effective 12 May 2026 · Version 2026-05-12
These terms apply to all pupils receiving services from Rana Driving School, a trading name of RDS HUB LTD ("we", "us", "our"). By submitting the registration form you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully — if anything is unclear, contact us at info@rds-hub-ltd.co.uk before signing up.
1. About these terms
This agreement covers driving lessons and test-preparation services provided by Rana Driving School and its DVSA-approved instructors.
Important — changes to DVSA rules in 2026. From 12 May 2026, only learner drivers themselves can book, change, swap or cancel their own car driving test. It is a criminal offence for anyone — including a driving instructor — to do this on someone else's behalf. We will not book or manage your test for you. We will, however, help you do it yourself (see Section 3).
2. Who can register
By registering, you ("the pupil") confirm that:
- You are 17 or over (or 16 if you receive the higher-rate mobility component of PIP/DLA).
- You hold a valid UK provisional driving licence.
- You are signing up on your own behalf, not for someone else.
- You meet the DVSA eyesight requirement (able to read a number plate from 20 metres, with glasses or contact lenses if needed).
- You will disclose any medical condition or medication that may affect your ability to drive safely.
3. Our services
We provide:
- Driving lessons with a DVSA-approved instructor.
- Test-readiness advice — your instructor will tell you when, in their professional opinion, you are ready to take your test. The final decision to book is yours.
- Instructor availability in the DVSA system — we keep our availability up to date so that when you book your test and add your instructor's personal reference number, the system can match it to our diary.
- Booking support (optional) — if booked in advance, your instructor can sit with you during a lesson while you book your own test on GOV.UK. You must complete as much of the booking as possible yourself, using your own email address and phone number.
- Driving you to your test — subject to availability and prior agreement.
We do not:
- Book, change, swap or cancel DVSA tests on your behalf.
- Hold or use your provisional licence number to book or manage tests on your behalf.
- Guarantee a test slot at any particular date, time or test centre.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Book and manage your own DVSA test, using your own email address and phone number, in line with DVSA rules.
- Give us accurate information and tell us promptly if your contact details, availability or licence status change.
- Turn up on time for lessons, with your provisional licence and appropriate eyewear if needed.
- Be fit to drive — not under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any medication that affects driving.
- Tell us about any medical condition or change in health that could affect your ability to drive safely.
- Pay for lessons and any agreed booking-support or car-hire fee in line with Section 5.
5. Fees and payment
- Lesson fees are agreed with your instructor in advance and are payable before each lesson unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Car hire for your driving test — if you would like to use our car for your practical test, the hire fee must be paid in full before the test date. This is separate from your lesson fees.
- Booking-support fees (if you would like us to sit with you while you book) are shown to you before you commit and are payable in advance.
- DVSA test fees are paid by you, directly to the DVSA, when you book your own test.
- Refunds for prepaid lessons: if you cancel a lesson with at least 48 hours' notice, we will refund or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged in full.
- Booking-support fees cover the instructor's time. Once that time has been spent, the fee is non-refundable. If you cancel before the appointment, contact us and we will review your request fairly.
6. Your right to cancel (online sign-ups)
If you signed up online, you have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, starting from the day you submit the registration form. If you ask us to start work (for example, begin lessons) within those 14 days, you agree we can begin, and you may be charged for any work already done if you cancel afterwards. To cancel, email us at info@rds-hub-ltd.co.uk.
7. DVSA test bookings — what you need to know
You are responsible for managing your own test. The current DVSA rules (as of 2026) include:
- Only 2 changes are allowed per booking. After that, you have to cancel and rebook to make further changes.
- From 9 June 2026, you can only move your test to one of the 3 test centres nearest to where your test is currently booked, or back to the test centre you first booked at.
- You must give at least 10 full working days' notice to cancel without losing the test fee. Working days are Monday to Saturday.
- Only you can book, change, swap or cancel your test. Doing this for someone else is a criminal offence.
Your instructor can advise on timing and centre choice, but they cannot make the booking for you.
8. Test day
If we have agreed to take you to your test:
- You will use the instructor's car if it is properly insured and roadworthy for test use.
- You must arrive at the meeting point on time. Late arrival may mean missing your test and losing your test fee.
- If our car becomes unavailable for reasons outside our control (for example, breakdown), we will do our best to find an alternative but cannot guarantee one.
9. What we are not responsible for
Rana Driving School is not liable for:
- DVSA system errors, test-centre closures, weather cancellations or policy changes.
- Your failure to attend, prepare for or pass your test.
- Test fees lost due to insufficient notice, no-shows, incorrect details or failed eligibility checks.
- Refunds the DVSA refuses to grant.
- Mistakes made by you when booking or managing your own test.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Privacy and data protection
Data controller: RDS HUB LTD (trading as Rana Driving School), info@rds-hub-ltd.co.uk.
What we collect: your name, date of birth, contact details, current address (and addresses in the last six months), provisional driving licence number and a copy of your licence, theory test certificate number (once obtained), lesson and payment records, and your signed registration form.
Why we collect it:
- To deliver driving lessons and related services.
- To verify your identity and your legal entitlement to learn to drive, and to detect and prevent fraud or impersonation.
- To keep accurate business, tax and instructor records.
- To demonstrate, if ever required by the DVSA, ICO, HMRC or a court, that our services were properly provided and that you booked your own DVSA test in line with the law.
- To establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Lawful bases (UK GDPR): performance of a contract (delivering lessons); legal obligation (tax and identity-verification records); legitimate interests (keeping records to defend our business against complaints, audits or legal claims — we have considered your privacy rights and concluded these do not override our need to keep these records).
Retention: we keep your records for 6 years after your final lesson, in line with the Limitation Act 1980 and HMRC record-keeping requirements. After that, records are securely deleted.
Security: your data is stored securely with access limited to staff who need it. We do not sell your data, and we share it only with service providers (for example accounting, IT) who are bound by confidentiality.
Your rights under UK GDPR: you have the right to access, correct or erase your data, restrict or object to processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. Some rights (for example erasure) may be limited where we have a legal duty or legitimate interest to keep records. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@rds-hub-ltd.co.uk.

11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us at info@rds-hub-ltd.co.uk. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and resolve them within 30 days. If we cannot resolve it, you can escalate to the DVSA (for instructor conduct) or the ICO (for data concerns).
12. Events outside our control
We are not liable for failure to deliver services due to events beyond our reasonable control — including extreme weather, industrial action, DVSA outages, illness, vehicle breakdown or government restrictions. Where possible, we will reschedule rather than cancel.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms if DVSA policy or UK law changes, or if we change how we operate. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Continued use of our services means you accept the updated terms.
14. General
- Governing law: these terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Jurisdiction: disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
- Severability: if any clause is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in force.
- Entire agreement: these terms (together with any written quote or service agreement we provide) form the entire agreement between us.
By submitting the registration form you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms. Your submission acts as your electronic signature.
